When you initiate an EV charging session, the merchant places a temporary hold (sometimes called a "pre-authorization") on your FutureCard account to confirm that funds are available (similar to a hotel, or car rental booking). This amount is typically larger than the final cost, and it ensures that your payment method is valid before the service is completed.
Once your session ends and the actual amount is calculated, the correct charge is finalized, and the original hold is either:
Adjusted down to match the real amount, or
Released entirely if no charge is processed.
These holds typically clear automatically within a few business days, and we can confirm there was no deduction to your balance from this hold. The transaction does not impact your balance (i.e.: it was not withdrawn from your account)
